The typical 4" elbow we are use to exhibits a radius of 3.5" (the center-line of the air flow arc has a radius of 3.5") and this elbow features the ability to adjust from 0 degrees to 90 degrees. Pretty cool but the efficiency of this elbow is very poor. In our testing the Standard Adjustable Elbow below produced airflow restriction equal to the friction loss of 15 feet of straight pipe. The Close Elbow below is a neat elbow and has its place because it fits in very tight places, but its friction loss is more than twice as bad as the Adjustable Elbow. If you have the room in the attic, crawlspace or your chase, the Long Turn Elbow is worthy of considering and does pay for itself in energy savings in 2.5 years. Need more info?
