Dryer-Ell 90-Degree Long-turn Dryer Elbow overcomes length of run issues and increases efficiency.

The Dryer-Ell has a long radius and smooth interior that reduces friction dramatically. This elbow will save the user 4.6 feet of duct run because this elbow, according to the building code and ASHREA calculations, has friction loss equal to straight pipe. The typical 3.5" radius ell carries with it a run-length reduction penalty of 5 feet. Regarding efficiency, we estimate this ell pays for itself in 2 years. UL lab testing demonstrated this ell was 500% more efficient than the standard 4" ell.

Tip: Any sheet metal screw will work to mate the sections, but the easiest are the black Pro-Twist Pan Head Framing Sharp Point Screw #7 x 7/16″, which are common with HVAC tradesmen and are available at Home Depot.

Screws are not included.

90 deg Dryer Vents

by Jim| 12/19/2011 12:00:00 am

I have installed three of these elbows in an apartment building laundry facility. They work extremely well. They are rugged and end help vent the room extremely well. easy to work with snd solid design. Highly recommend to vent dryers in any type of facility.

90 degree long turn ELLs helped shorten drying time

by Bob| 3/2/2014 12:00:00 am

My builder vented my dryer out the back of the house. The cheap aluminum foil hose was about 60 feet long. It was impossible to clean it out and I always feared a fire. So, I re-routed my vent system using 4" stainless steel pipe, two 90 degree long turn ELLs, and a Dryer Wall Vent - a total of 18 feet long. My drying time for heavy clothers was typically 60-70 minutes. Today it is 40-50 minutes with my new system which I attribute to less friction. There is also little or no lint build-up in the vent system because of the smooth interior.

90 degree long turn

by John| 7/13/2014 12:00:00 am

Arrived quickly - constructed of heavy gauge materials - assembly easy but did not give confidence that it would stay assembled. Installed self tapping screws in the flanges to ensure the pieces would remain assembled. Would buy it again to get the reduction in resistance required.

90 and 45 degree ell

by Ben| 12/17/2013 12:00:00 am

The ells worked well to help meet code on a long run with a few bends. They were pretty easy to assemble for a novice, although they didn't include sheet metal screws. You should also plan on taping the seams shut.

90 Degree Long-Turn Ell 4"

by Southern Comfort HVAC| 9/19/2014 12:00:00 am

We always order these Long-Turn Ells from The Dryerbox website. No one in our town keeps them in stock. Turn around time between ordering and receiving the parts is very reasonable. We are definitely a returning customer. I'd recommend them to anyone.

90 degree long-term Ell - 4"

by Bill| 9/4/2014 12:00:00 am

Great product. It should be distributed through Home Depot/Lowes. I had a 32' run so making two turns was critical. Most importantly the turns were slow and gradual. Awesome product!!!!!!

works perfectly,arrived quickly.

Difficult to assemble, but still a good product

by Neil| 1/5/2014 12:00:00 am

The 90 degree long-turn elbow was difficult to assemble (it comes in two pieces) and didn't seem to be very secure after I got it together the best I could. I taped up all the joints for added assurance and air tightness. At the end of the day, I was happy with how the final install worked out since I was able to get my dryer vented without exceeding the maximum allowed length thanks to the efficiency of the elbow. I would buy this elbow again if I couldn't afford to take the 5 foot penalty from a normal elbow.

DRY FASTER

This is a well designed product. It is very rugged. Because of the wide sweep it reduces the resistance of you dryers exhaust run and increase drying efficiency.

Does the Job

The Long-Turn Ell is sturdy and simple to install.

Dryer vent cleaner

by Mark| 3/8/2012 12:00:00 am

I wanted to love this product, but when I got to the customers home and tried to assemble it I kept hitting snags. As another writer mentioned, the tabs were poorly matched and there was a lot of air gap after assembly. I taped the gaps and screwed the flanges together for surety sake. The flanges themselves proved to be bulky to work around in tight spaces. As the other writer said, "needs more thought".

Excellent Product

by Charles| 9/28/2014 12:00:00 am

I find the 90 Degree Long-Turn Ell 4" to be an excellent product that doesn't restrict the airflow on my electric dryer exhaust. Actually, I had already run the exhaust using a standard 90 degree Ell near the ceiling joists but disassembled it and instead used this one. However, I find it to be ascetically ugly in appearance. The functionality is great but it's a terrible thing to look at. The fins are quite ugly in appearance. I realize that a dryer exhaust pipe is nothing but a dryer exhaust pipe and that 99.999 percent of customers couldn't care less what it looks like but I take great pains to make everything ascetically pleasing to the eye. I demanded the same from a local HVAC company during a recent install of a new furnace and air conditioning unit. I'm wondering why this Ell isn't stamped at the factory as a single piece of metal with a snap together fitting similar to straight dryer exhaust pipe. Perhaps it's not possible. I don't know. I'm not an engineer. Perhaps it would unnecessarily increase the expense of the Ell which I can certainly understand. After all, business is cutthroat and competition is competition. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this Ell to anyone who doesn't want restricted air flow, especially if the exhaust run is a long one. I didn't worry about sealing the outside fins on this Ell as I used high temperature silicone caulk on the inside seams, thus sealing it completely. I used foil duct tape on all the connections of the exhaust as I didn't want any screws protruding into the pipe. I wish the major big box hardware stores and smaller hardware stores would stock this item. Again, I highly recommend this item to everyone. It's a quality piece.

Fantastic Product!

Exactly what I was looking for. Excellent fit and finish.

good idea, BUT

by Jay Roese| 5/11/2017 12:00:00 am

Great idea but the stamping process is not up to par. Both ends were deformed enough that male to female connections were loose and difficult to secure. Screws and rivets didn't pull it together very well. I would buy again, just hope the stampings improve.

good product for the price

by Darren Mertz| 9/14/2013 12:00:00 am

Works as designed. The two halves of the pipe still have a bit of a gap between them even after screwing together. I'll have to use some duct seem sealer or the like. Only other option would be welded pipe which is really expensive.

Great !

These sweep elbows are great. Solved a tough problem for me. Easy to assemble & install. Not available in stores here but this vendor ships extremely fast - I had my order within 36 hours. Thanks for a job well done.

great fix

by gary| 2/2/2015 12:00:00 am

Local building codes changes showed a flaw in our design on a location of the laundry in our project. These elbow reduced the run length enough to pass the inspection and keep the project on time.

GREAT ADD-ON

by JEFFREY BELACK| 5/9/2011 12:00:00 am

The LT 90 has been a terrific add-on to my dryer exaust line. Although my exaust line set up is enhanced by an "in-line" Flo-Tech Dryer Booster Fan, which is located towards the end of the exaust line run (my run is about 42' in total length), the over all efficiency has definitely increased by the addition of this elbow. Easy to assemble and install, this elbow is worth every penny!

Great product

by David| 6/13/2019 12:00:00 am

Finally a great product at a reasonable price. I used two of them on my attic dryer run along with the flush mount dryer vent. Solved a problem with moisture accumulating in my dryer as my house was built before the requirement for back flow preventers.

Great product, but...

by Ryan| 11/12/2014 12:00:00 am

This is a great product that greatly reduces flow inefficiencies associated with a typical 90 degree bend. I like how the inside is perfectly smooth which does not disrupt air flow. A few things I think they could improve upon: Even when the product is assembled with screws, a small gap will remain at the joints. To counter this, I used many small pieces of foil tape to completely seal it, which is tedious. Perhaps they could include a gasket or pre-cut foil pieces that curve nicely along the bend. If they have a different method or best practices on how to close the gap, I would love to hear about it. I think the limited distribution of this product is really holding the company back. Not only is the price high, but it's also inconvenient to only purchase it through their online store. This is a great product and should be offered at every big box retailer. Hopefully once they start increasing their production volume, they can reduce their units costs.

Home Owner

by Doug Gilmore| 1/19/2012 12:00:00 am

Great! I installed snap together dryer pipe in the wall to the dryer and it just clears the ceiling studs in the attic. the Dryer-Ell gives the length and clearance to make the 90 deg turn in the attic without adding splices and it gives a gradual downward slope to the outside for condensation to naturally flow outside. The flow at the dryer vent is excellent avoiding an expense booster fan. In summary, it solved 3 big problems for me with just the design. Great product.

I replaced my 4 regular 90* with 3 long turn ells and kept a regular 90* on the dryer and it cut the dry time in half!

Helped me meet code!

by Barry Smith| 6/26/2013 12:00:00 am

This is a great product. My wife and I are currently building a new home (building it ourselves) and the laundry room is on an interior wall. Only when we started to run the dryer vent did we discover the difficulty in meeting the 35' length limit, especially after subtracting 5' for every (we had 3) 90 degree elbow. The solution: use the long turn ell to replace the 90 degree celing elbow combined with the dryer box to eliminate the elbow at dryer. The combination allowed us to reroute the vent so no additional elbows were required and straight shot out the rear gable. Great solution for tricky situation.

Low resistance Elbow

by Ian| 11/6/2013 12:00:00 am

Very low resistance for an elbow and easy to clean but be sure to wear heavy gloves when assembling as the edges are quite sharp.

Long Turn Ell 4"

by Scott| 2/19/2015 12:00:00 am

First off, Dryerbox is a great company, with awesome customer service. I have a long run that required 4 standard elbows to make the 90 degree turns. But I could never get my vent brush past them and the flow was minimal. These long turn ells are the cat jammas. I couldn't be more happy. The vent blows nicely and there is no more lint build up that I had with the standard elbows. I highly recommend thes or any dryerbox products. Check out the videos on youtube for yourself. AAA+++
