Works great after modified
by Carey| 10/15/2014 12:00:00 am
I needed the downbox 2x4 box for my project. I cut out then smoothed out the holes so the down vent would be on the bottom right and gas on the top left. I had to flip flop my front loading machines so the doors would open outward properly. All plumbing and electrical had to be moved. It's finally done and works great. Now it's time for drywall.

remodel use

I "found" this item through a contractor's trade magazine. I have completely renovated an 18-year old condo and decided to add the dryer box since I was adding a laundry box as well. It worked out pretty good but there were some issues since it's a remodel and water and gas were in the same area which made it "challenging" to get everything to fit. Maybe some re-design for such future projects would be in order?
Retrofit Vent Box
by Lila McGrew| 7/31/2018 12:00:00 am
We installed a downdraft vent box during our laundry remodel. The quality is excellent, easy to install (one the existing framing was modified), and does exactly what it's supposed to do. The contractor had never seen one before, and was impressed. He intends to use them in the future. The building inspector loves them, too.

I really like the dryer box. All of them that I have used worked great. They are heavy gauge, install well and aren't easily damaged by other subs. I like the way they look when installed it is nice and clean when finished.
Perfect!

I looked and looked for a metal in-wall box that would vent through the crawlspace. This product is well-designed and well-made! I am pleased that I could add a full 4-5 inches to my laundry room, just by installing this box and getting my dryer up against the wall!

The dryerbox is just was just what the doctor ordered. The unit was well-made. Due to the circumstances, I needed a 3D model with the hole on the right. The service department was able to send me a unit without a pre-cut hole so I was able to make the penetration exactly where I needed it to suit the project conditions.

The dryerbox did the trick; we live in a newer construction house where the builder cut corners by downsizing the laundry area. With a medium dryer we could barely close the garage door; now we have a full three inches of free room. We will likely replace our old dryer with a newer and most likely bigger dryer but with dryerbox at least it will fit. We are very satisfied with the increased space and makes the current laundry room workable. Thank you.

Product shipped quickly and came packaged well. I used in a small closet for a stacked washer/dryer and it saved the space that I needed. Great product!

I'm so glad we found this dryer box online. We'd looked every where, big box stores, plumbing supply warehouses, etc. with no luck. It's been instlled & works perfectly.

Fantastic product, used the down venting one. Very robust steel, no other product like it really.
Great solution to small space
by John| 3/17/2015 12:00:00 am
Using the 3D Dryerbox reclaimed enough space in the laundry closet for the new dryer. Installing the box was easy, cutting a new hole though the floor, less easy. Eliminating 3 elbows and replacing the 4th with a long turn elbow from Dryerbox made a HUGE difference in air flow. Well worth the effort!
great solution

the dryer box is a great solution to an age old problem. easy installation in new construction, some reframing may be required if the dryer centerline does not match up with the stud layout. I used 4" rigid metal duct and squeezed it very little.

Great product, fit perfect. Could not find a down flow in any of the big box stores only plastic up flow units that were the same price as this metal product.

The prodect works well, but would be even better if additional "knock-out" holes were provided to allow different duct configurations for existing construction or tight spaces.

This box was an excellent choice for moving the washer and dryer to the first floor where it was vented downward through the crawlspace and outside. I was very pleased with how solid the dryer box felt when I took it out of the box- the metal construction does not flex in any direction. I also appreciated the multiple predrilled holes and the ability to obtain a UL rating with the product (if installed per the manufacturer's directions). The finished wall will be a tiled wall and we will prime and paint it to match the rest of the house.

I would like to see the 4" hole on the right side as well as left to be a punch out so we can choose which side to use. Same goes for the gas line port which should be on the top if you have a down port box. For my install I have to drill a 4" port on the right side of the one already there. Reason being I can not move the drier any further to the right , so it will not line up to allow me to duct the the left side, and I can not move the box to the left due to various elec boxes and drain lines already in the wall. I was limited to which stud spacing I used. For that matter you could even make the upper holes punch outs as well and then include 4 punch outs. Until you open up the wall, you never know how you will be able to orient the ducting in the box for the best fit.
Could not use
by David| 9/16/2014 12:00:00 am
This was not a new job, but a retrofit; in any case due to framing and plumbing constraints I could not use the 3D. ( I modified drier to a side vent where there was room for duct work.) please note that retrofit models would not have worked here either. I hope that we can use it next year at my daughter's new house. I would like to point out that with the hole in this model fixed it does limit where it can be used. An option for a hole on either side would provide benefits. Otherwise, the construction is very good; I would recommend it.
