Its precision-tuned design creates no resistance, giving a level of performance previously unavailable in the industry. This vent features an industry-first curved damper that deters nesting birds and critters. Removing a total of four rivets makes the front panel removable to provide access for cleaning and maintenance.

The sturdy 26-gauge Galvalume® steel housing is built to last. This extra clearance vent is best suited for medium snowfall regions, sloped roofs with flat profile cement tiles or other composite shingles. Does not provide adequate clearance in height for "S" or Barrel Tile roofs.

Additional Description:

This medium-sized Galvalume® roof cap has a plate (flange) size of 12” wide x 14” and the structure is 6” wide x 8” and about 9” high. It has a 4.12 inch diameter collar that accepts typical residential dryer exhaust conduit. Per building codes, there is no screen in this vent as it is exclusively designed for clothes dryers. Unlike other roof vents, this vent features a unique lightweight damper that is curved, increasing the efficiency dramatically. The final opening is 65% larger than the round pipe portion. By far, this is the most efficient roof vent on the market.

For flat roof installs, we recommend a installing our DJK486U (curb style) over a raised curb.

The collar penetrates the plate about 1.25 inches and is sealed to the plate with a silicone bead. It will work on sloped roofs from 2/12 up to 12/12.

Note: Not recommended for use with a high-profile roof tiles like "S", Spanish S as there is only a distance of 5 inches between the opening and the bottom plate. Bird nest building within would be doubtful due to the slope and shape of the damper. This vent is proudly made in the USA.

Galvalume: A patented alloy of barrier-resistant aluminum and corrosion-fighting zinc gives Galvalume its superior corrosion resistance. Most Galvalume substrates feature an alloy that is 55% aluminum, 43.5% zinc and 1.5% silicon. Tests have proven this alloy superior to the zinc-only coating used in regular Galvanized sheeting. Additionally, it is Acrylic Coated, coating designation AZ-55.

Complies with 2017 code M1502.3.1 (Exhaust termination passageway size).

Professional installation is recommended.

DIY'ers, we recommend Polyurethane Roof and Flashing Sealant.

Not recommended for for bathroom exhaust fans with less than 70 cfm output.

Works beautifully for us

by Ann in Michigan| 12/29/2015 12:00:00 am

We had a roof vent for our dryer that clogged up constantly. It had a screen to keep squirrels out. But we couldn't dry clothes. So we viewed the online videos about the DryerJack and ordered one. Because we are in Michigan and get snow, we ordered the extra clearance model. It is working beautifully. Our vent hose run is short, about 8 ft, but has three 90 degree turns in it. So the no-back-pressure design of the DryerJack is great. It was nice that it came in brown to go with our roof.

Works great!

by Paul| 6/30/2013 12:00:00 am

A roofing specialist replaced my original dryer vent with a DryerJack on June 29 on my tile roof. All I can say is my DryerJack works great. The original vent had 1/4 inch wire mesh over the opening to keep critters out, but the mesh would constantly get plugged with lint from the dryer, no matter how often the lint trap was cleaned. I was resigned to cleaning the vent about every four to six weeks to order to keep our dryer working properly.

Well designed

by Gary| 9/30/2012 12:00:00 am

The DryerJack is designed to provide minimal resistance to air and to keep birds from making nests. Also, there is a panel that can be removed to make it easier to remove any lint build-up. Nice product.

Well designed, well made

We bought the Dryer Jack to be used as part of a small remodeling project. Re-routing our dryer vent through the roof over our garage was the best option. After a lot of research we chose the Dryer Jack. It is very well made and the design is ingenious! Works very well. If you need to vent your dryer through the roof...this is the only way to go.

Tile Roof Install

by AC| 5/30/2014 12:00:00 am

I purchased the gooseneck version as recommended for a tile roof installation, however I should have purchased the standard version. To meet code flashing must be installed on top of the roofing paper and on top of the tile - effectively two layers of flashing. To achieve this the roofer builds a small wood frame and installs flashing at the paper level, and then mounts the vent on top of the box at the tile level. Overall the installation still looks clean and doesn't protrude as much as you might think. Because of the installation method I could have used the standard profile vent, not the gooseneck. The vent works as advertised. The LG gas dryer I have has a "flow sense" feature that indicates there is no restrictions in the vent (20' run w/ two 45 bends). Overall I'm pleased with the product and have recommended it to both my roofer and my HVAC contractors.

Snow belt

by Ellen| 8/23/2014 12:00:00 am

We live in a high snow area. I really enjoy having the increased venting for my dryer. There was a vent installed that was not meant to go on the roof. All last winter we had to run the dryer a lot longer because of inefficient air flow. I would like to see this model in available in our local stores.

Love Dyer Jack

by Kathy| 9/16/2013 12:00:00 am

When our roofers replaced our roof and replaced our old dryer vent on the roof, they used a vent that was not made for venting dryers. We had to replace the heating element in our dryer. After that I search for a better dryer vent. I found the BEST DRYER VENT at In-O-Vate....the goosemeck dryer jack. It is working wonderfully! I LOVE IT!

In-O-Vate Dryer Jack 486 Extra Clearance Roof Vent

by Barbara| 1/14/2014 12:00:00 am

Since purchasing our home over 13 years ago, we have had certain 'issues' with our dryer vent which vents through the roof. When we purchased a new, efficient front loader washer & dryer, I thought certain aspects would be 'better'. I was wrong. When we had our roof replaced about 3 years ago, I discussed with the roofing company, the issues that I had with the dryer vent - which entailed going on the roof for 2 reasons: 1 - to clear the lint off of the screen - which had to be done on a very regular basis; 2 - to clear the snow away in the winter so that I could use my dryer. The roofing company said that there were no better options, so for the past 3 years (since replacing our roof), either me or my husband have still had to go up on the roof to clear the screen on a regular basis; and to clear the snow when needed in the winter. I found your In-O-Vate 486 Dryer Vent Extra Clearance Model on line. My husband felt it looked to be a good product and we purchased it. Our roofing company was not terribly cooperative in replacing it; so we had our chimney professional do the work. Your vent is awesome. -First, no more clearing the screen - because there is none and we have since found out that a screen on a dryer vent is a fire hazard! The damper on the DryerJack opens when in use and closes when idle to keep out pests. I do hope that the damper door works properly for years to come. -Second, we had quite a bit of snow several weeks back, and the height and shape of the vent worked as we had hoped - we did not have to go on the roof to clear snow - the vent worked and cleared its own area - yea! I can supply pictures if you are interested. -Finally - a real surprising and huge plus - my dryer has never worked so efficiently. My dryer dries twice as fast as it ever has! I am guessing that the airflow is so much better. I am thrilled with the DryerJack Innovate Goose Neck 486 Dryer Vent. I wish that roofers cared about the products that they consider 'ancillary' to installing a roof. Your vent was no more money than the vent that they purchased from a large retail store; yet, your vent works properly and efficiently. Thank you for a great product! And - BTW, I am very happy to see that it is made in the USA! Sincerely, Barbara in New Jersey PS - The owner of roofing company came out and looked at our new DryerJack vent - and he was impressed.

Installer

by Bob Francis| 7/6/2012 12:00:00 am

This vent replaced a residential dryer vent pipe that was over 35ft. long with five elbows. They had to run the dryer through several cycles to dry towels and linen. The dryer pipe was almost completely blocked with lint when I disassembled it. Now the dryer line is 11ft. long going straight up and works perfectly. The dryer only needs one cycle to dry laundry and no longer smells of burning cloth. Great product!

This is amazing, my drying time went from an hour and a half to 20 maybe 30 minutes. The clothes are softer with less shrinkage. Dryer, Steel Flex Duct, Ecco LintTrap, Flapper Gate Box for inside heat, Duct to Offset Duct to DryerJack.

Great Solution

by Damon| 7/14/2015 12:00:00 am

I installed on a flat roof and it works perfectly!! Solid construction, easy installation. Thanks!

Great design

by drcash| 4/6/2015 12:00:00 am

My Old Vent had a screen in it that Plugged up. This caused moisture to condense in my attic especially when the outside temperature was so cold. The moisture soaked insulation, stained drywall etc. There was so much moisture that it was raining in the attic. This design has no screen and has a duct extension for direct connection. Installer needs to insulate any exposed piping in the attic. I installed 2 of these one for the dryer and one for the bathroom vent. One of the Dryer Jacks had a spot weld that had popped loose, my roofer fixed it for me.

Good, solid product

by Kevin| 6/7/2013 12:00:00 am

I ordered this roof jack specifically due to it's industry leading low restriction. It's very sturdy and does it's job well. Our remodel left us with the roof as our only venting option. If your dryer is a lint generator like ours, do yourself a solid and spring for the extra lint trap so your lint doesn't end up on the roof.

Firefighter Approved

If you are going to vent a dryer through a roof, this is the vent for you. The design engineer of this vent has real grasp of the issues with venting a dryer. I did an exhaustive search for dryer roof vents. Most were made of light gauge metal, and poorly constructed. If you are still not sure what to buy, just search YouTube for "roof dryer vents". It convinced me. Be Safe: Glenn Hills (Retired from East Point Fire Dept.GA. 22 years)

excellent

This is an excellent product. I replaced a Nutone roof vent with this one and the difference is amazing. I own apartments, and will be replacing the old ones with this one.

DryerJack - extra clearance design - 4" collar

by Don| 4/9/2015 12:00:00 am

I noticed the top of the dryer was hot and was running for a long time to fully dry the clothes. I decided it was time to replace the exhaust hose and vent cap but did not want to run it back through the floor and twenty feet through the crawl space in the basement. I decided to go up about ten feet through the roof. I read about the DryerJack and it sounded great. Ordered it, and a couple days later there it was. The install was simple with no problems and the dryer is running much cooler and more efficient. I'm very impressed!

DryerJack

This vent saved my son a ton of money. He would have had to run too long of a vent pipe had this option not been available. It works perfectly and was easy to install.

Dryerjack extra clearance roof vent

by Tyrone| 7/24/2014 12:00:00 am

Customer service via phone was excellent. It was explained to us there was a backlog in production and to check back. We ordered couple weeks later and got the item in mail in good time. Product installation was straight forward. THIS PRODUCT CUT OUR DRYING TIME IN HALF!!! We searched for a product locally in Canada and nothing came close to the superior quality and design of your product. We got the extra clearance design as we had one of the worst winters ever this year here in S. Ontario. More people up here will definitely buy your product if they hear about it.

DryerJack - Gooseneck design - 4" collar

by Dan Malcom| 11/3/2013 12:00:00 am

In my search for a well built american made dryer vent, for a through the roof application. This vent can't be beat. I was impressed with the way the vent was built very heavy duty, I found the installation to be trouble free on an existing roof, the collar was placed appropriately to allow for this. the only improvment I could recommend is a rolled bead on the vertical sides of the flange to help with weeping water, although I have had no leaks at this point. I would defiantly recommend this vent over what home depot or lowes carries and their isn't much else to be had since I did a pretty good internet search for this type of vent.

DryerJack

by Scott| 3/11/2015 12:00:00 am

Recently I discovered our dryer, which was vented thru the roof, was using the wrong vent. It was the kind used to vent a exhaust fan and it was completely block with lent and the piping had come apart and was venting directly into the attic(what a mess). This was a extreme fire hazard. I did some quick research and decided on the DryerJack, which was easy(for me) to install and works as well or better than promised. I would recommend it to anyone!!!! Thanks much....

DryerJack DJK486

by John| 8/9/2013 12:00:00 am

I had a new roof installed and the roffing contractor installed the DryerJack DJK486 with no problems. My dryer is now taking less time to dry clothes than before which will pay for this upgrade in a very short period of time. The vent has a very nice appearence and compliments the new roof. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it in the future.
